He is a Medical Doctor with over 10 years of experience in Public Health. He earned an MBBS from the University of Juba and an MSc in Biostatistics and Health Informatics from Mekelle University in Ethiopia. Dr. Oryem worked extensively in HIV/AIDS Programme Management and Clinical Care. While heading the HIV/AIDS Programme in the Ministry of Health, he led successful scale up of HIV care and treatment, thus increasing the number treatment centres from 3 facilities in 2006 to 22 centres in 2011. He also managed funding from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS TB and Malaria (GFATM) and Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF). He is a National Expert and Trainer of Facilitators in Integrated Management of Adult and Adolescents Illnesses. He managed Tuberculosis and Leprosy Programme and other components of Primary Health Care in the Catholic Diocese of Torit. He also worked as a Medical Officer in Malakal and various hospitals in Sudan. He worked as a National Programme Officer with the WHO, South Sudan Office. Dr Oryem is currently the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Directorate of Policy, Planning and Budgeting – Ministry of Health, Republic of South Sudan. He is a member of Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the Ministry of Health. He is also member of HIV/AIDS and Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Working Groups and Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) South Sudan.
